Remember “it’s magic, we don’t need to explain it?” Remember how asinine and half-assed that non-explanation felt? Well, it turns…

There’s been a lot of ballyhoo around the original Human Torch lately and, although I’m not automatically excited by the…

This is indeed a subtle book.  So much so that, I’m ashamed to say, I didn’t see quite how layered…

I was going to say something about how the new writers don't wave OMD/BND in our faces like Slott does, but I just noticed on the bottom left corner of the page with Gargan sitting in the chair, talking to the prostitute... well, look for yourselves.

I don't consider that waving it in our faces, but that's a pretty funny easter egg.

June 3, 2009 7:09 pm I apologize if this reviews reads awkwardly at all.  My first attempt got eaten by a spastic internet connection, and I tried to re-write from memory.  Boo.
June 3, 2009 4:31 pm Morrison managed to be far less complicated, yet the story was just as layered.  This was really an achievement.

Deadpool - Ron was much kinder than I would have been.  Daniel Way is straight-up awful, and Pool-O-Vision makes me rage.  I love Deadpool, but this is not my Deadpool.

Locke and Key - Actually never heard of it.  Doesn't sound like my cup of tea, though.

Secret Six - One of my favorite books, so... I don't know.  It really does sound kind of silly when you explain it, but I think it's one of the best DC books.  The only better ones are the Green Lantern titles.  But issue 9, I think, is the best of the series.

I guess you guys wouldn't have liked Incredible Hercules (my vote) either, because I like it because it has the same jokiness as Secret Six.

@Conor So the New Avengers cover that showed a battle with the Dark Avengers, where the issue featured a battle with The Hood's jobbers was a metaphor, too?

Actually, I guess it could be, but that's the kind of shenanigans I was referring to.

June 2, 2009 1:51 am Even better than a Reign of Fire Special Edition Podcast... you guys should just sit and watch it, and record your own commentary track that we can play along with the movie.
June 2, 2009 12:02 am All I'm saying is that I'll have no interest in reading the new series if clone-girl Peter is the "new" Spidey.
June 2, 2009 12:01 am I wonder if this will be yet another cover signifying a fight that doesn't happen?
June 2, 2009 12:00 am Double dip of Old Scotty McTrippypants this week, eh?
