It's the mark of a great writer that one can take such a simple concept, put it to page, and make a reader like me say "Hey, that's right! Why hasn't this been addressed before now?" It seems that Secret Invasion was the final push for Reed Richards to realize that not only has he lost the ability to make good decisions that benefit others, but that he hasn't been applying himself. That he's got an amazing mind, but if it's really THAT amazing, why isn't everyone living a better life because of it? Hickman's characterization here is amazing. Reed is completely taken with his idea. Ben and Johnny encourage him, but we assume it's mostly because they don't want to do chores either. Sue just wants to get the job done because the kids are coming home, but doesn't fall until the typical yelling at Reed for being Reed trap. Here, she understands her husband, asks him if it has to be done now, and even shares a sweet moment with him after he tells her, basically, it's her words, that his mind is a gift, that drives him. Sue gets yet another moment to shine when the HAMMER troops show up, and she leads Ben and Johnny into battle with "I want this over two minutes after we hit the lobby." The characters here are all at their best, The interior art looks quite good (a relief after an awful cover), and the colors (most notably in the faces) are warm and alive. A hint of blush in Sue's cheek, for instance, adds a real human quality to her sweet moment with Reed. Writing this, I'm realizing that if Hickman keeps this up, I might be reading a lot more Fantastic Four. Didn't see that coming.

Nice review.
Reviews like that sell books.
Aww, I’m blushing like Sue. In a guy sort of way.
How about an Eskimo kiss? Is that asking too much?
great review!
