i was a little worried when i saw that Hickman was making the jump from his graphic design indy comics to mainstream superhero fare, but witht this, i wait with baited breath for the next issue. this might possibly be the best issue of FF ive read since the Wade/ Wieringo run from a few years back.
the best part was, Hickman got everyone, and for the first time, showed me a different side of Sue as a kick-ass take charge woman. I suppose she'd have to be toplay den mother to Ben and Johnny and occasionally Reed, but watching her react to HAMMER agents invading the baxter building was just amazing.
and speaking of amazing, this is flat out the best ive ever seen Sean Chen draw. i swear, i couldve stared at that page with the baxter building just basking in the sense of wonder he gave that scene. His pencils were tight and focused and kinetic. he made Hickman's script MOVE! like a smart summer blockbuster.
when i was done with this, i said to myself "i think that was pick of the week", becuase no other book made me as excited to read the next issue as this one did. I almost wish the next issue of the regular series was Millar's last so we could get on with Hickman and Eaglesham's. Until then, i guess ill just have this surprisingly great series to whet my appetite
