Things are seeming to settle down and return to normal, but the background noise is picking up and slowly manifesting in the forms of several subtle new plotlines. Very skillfully written, and quite captivating. We have so many new questions. Will Boy Blue's injuries get worse? Are we headed for a civil war between the Fables? How freaking powerful is Frau Totenkinder, anyway? Why is Red being a whore, and what will Blue do when he finds out another man is rubbing his rutabaga? And, just like at the end of Se7en... WHAT'S IN THE BOX? Oh, and when is Peter Pan coming? Not that the last one was hinted in this book, but I want to know. The backup story was also very good... which is me saying a lot because I usually hate backup stories. The art seemed rushed, but wasn't bad at all.

I agree with you completely. The possiblities of this book are endless and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
I don’t think Peter Pan will ever be in it, sadly. From what I’ve read, he was supposed to be the adversary very very very early on (perhaps even before the book started) with Captain Hook as a good guy, but there was some issue with the copyright to the character.
Oh well, there are still dozens of unused fables that could become main characters.
I thought any possibility of a relationship between Rose Red and Boy Blue had pretty much been put to rest. He expressed his attraction to her, and she said that after an initial attraction she’d grown into a friendship with him. I’m not saying that wasn’t a smokescreen, or that Boy Blue won’t be more hurt than he deserves to be, but it would seem a bit forced if Willingham made a HUGE deal out of Rose Red boning Sinbad at this stage. Some sort of confrontation is coming, but I’d be a little annoyed if it was enormous. But Willingham’s a great writer, and I’ll hold off final judgement until I get to read whatever’s coming.
