In any other context, two guys telling "can you top this" stories of the horrible things they've done being joined by a child's tale of how killing isn't such a bad thing might be good for a laugh.  In the context of this issue, it's absolutely bone chilling.  From the expressions on the character's faces down to their word choice, you can feel the mix of exhaustion and detachment in those whose switches have been flipped.  All that, plus yet another philosophy lesson is presented, the likes of which has not been seen in this title since the quotable revelation "WE are the walking dead!", and we are made to realize the zombies are the people who weren't willing to do whatever it takes... and yet, somehow, that simple fact had never crossed my mind.  Add all of these things up and top it off with a gasp-worthy last panel, and a moment you just know will come back to bite someone in the ass (pun intended), and you have textbook Walking Dead excellence.  Has it really been 5 years, though?  My my.
