This, at least in concept, had the potential to be very bad. Although it doesn't exactly have its hooks in me yet, I have to admit it has done a number of things right. I assure you, if they had leaned on the WHO IS AZRAEL!?! mystery, I wouldn't even be thinking about reading the next issue. Not only do they avoid that trap, but they manage to steep this new Azrael's origin in plot points connect both to Morrison, with his three cop Batmen, and with Dini and the suit of sorrows. Although they've made some good, continuity-nerd-pleasing choices in all of this, I'm not sure if I care just yet. This was good enough for me to continue, but not good enough to anticipate the rest of the mini. The art was interesting at times, and truly bad at others. In one panel, the Oracle emblem looks like someone drew it with their feet. The style also leaves some characters nearly unrecognizable. I could prattle on, but suffice to say while this book didn'tfall on its face, as it so easily could have, it didn't exactly shock and awe, either. A decent effort, overall.

A pretty good review, although I thought it was a little better then what you scored it 🙂
I am surprised it didnt do this whole ‘Who is Azrael?’ mystery. You would think it would do that….surprised me.
