I'm pretty ambivalent about this one. Although it's fairly well-constructed in comparison to other SI tie-ins and moves along at a fairly decent pace, I'm having a hard time enjoying it. This issue still plays on the "Who do you trust?" thing, which I thought we were past and I can't help but see as a crutch, and the endgame doesn't make any sense. If the Skrulls want Earth for themselves, why would they send giant chunks of it to the Negative Zone? Aside from that, I didn't expect them to make good on revealing Mutant Zero, but they didn't even tease it in this issue. What was the point of saying anything about it in the solicitation? Anyway, I'm not about to blame the book itself for the jerks in marketing, but the only thing I really liked about this issue was Ant Man... and that it touched on a lot of points about SI. It's just that the content in how it expressed what it touched on was pretty meh, and the art seemed to deteriorate in terms of detail as the book went along. I'll be excited to read this title again when the tie-in is over.

That’s an aspect of SI I dont understand and Bendis was stupid to put it in. The idea that the Skrulls might want to occupy this planet and not outright kill everyone doesnt make sense. On one hand they tell the people ‘Dont worry life will go on, your not in danger’ then the next panel shows them trying to kill innocent civilians. That’s a mix message I dont understand why Bendis added that to this story.
It seems to be the classic "you will be spared if you submit to our rule", but it’s when Skrulls get written by other writers that their bloodthirstiness seems to go up. Actually, there’s little consistency in the Skrull characterization from book to book. In one comic, they’re a military force. In another, they’re flesh-eating monsters.
