I came into this book not knowing at all what to expect.  From the early solicits, I was only interested in “Run”, featuring The Human Flame, and “Dance” featuring Super Young Team and, one of my favorite new characters in some time, Most Excellent Super-Bat.  As for this series and “Ink”… not so much.  In this case, I’m not familiar at all with creative team or the characters, but figured I;d try it out just the same.  Stylistically, this is incredibly interesting.  Just the same, I’m not really sure what I just read.  In that, I’m not so sure this will read well in issue format.  Although I don’t like the artist’s figures, and cross-hatch shadows across faces are a pet peeve of mine, the layouts are fascinating and sometimes strange, but in a good and engrossing way. The writing style is not something I’m used to seeing outside of Indie comics.  I’d stop short of calling it experimental, but it’s nice to see a mainstream book doing something different.  I can’t say I know anything about any of the apparent main players in the book, but even without familiarity to ground me, I’m curious enough to see where this odd journey has the potential to go to press onward.
