Bendis, one might say, writes things for the "cool" factor, and often doesn't worry if they make sense.  I will give him that there was one moment in this book that was cool and DID make sense, and that's the scene with Doom and Namor.  "You get the sea, I get the land".  I would like nothing more than to see the war Doom hints of, and their conspiring fits in well given their relationship since Atlantis' destruction.  Other than that, this issue is a resounding meh.  Not much happened here, other than miming Illuminati #1.  Osborn proposes a deal with this new Illuminaughty where Osborne's HAMMER embraces them and their causes, in exchange for the occassional dirty deed done.  The motivation to obey?  Some shadowy figure that reminds me that Bendis has used up all the trust I have for him writing big events.  On top of that... the art.  I am very much not a fan of the style, and was really bothered by some of the character designs.  Namor looks more like Osborn than Osborn, who in turns looks like a much younger man with a lot more hair.  There's also a few unintentional lulz when it comes to the scripting/layout... my favorite being when Namor apparently jizzes in his pants while talking to Loki (this fact is confirmed by Emma and Doom, and might have read differently if the exchange didn't end with the page).  Also, a niggling detail to be sure, but the word "a" seems to be missing in several spots before certain phrases.  Most notably every fucking time someone says Emma is "leader of the X-Men".  I might have been more forgiving of this issue, but I'm still pissed about SI's giant middle finger of a non-ending, and the art in this book didn't make it any easier to read.
