This is indeed a subtle book.  So much so that, I’m ashamed to say, I didn’t see quite how layered…

February 5, 2009 5:28 am @sunhero HEY.  He also does Herc, which is one of the best and most under-rated Marvel books, so I know -I'm- not surprised.
February 5, 2009 5:26 am Mini-review for this book feels the same, issue after issue:  Good story, really crappy art.
February 5, 2009 5:25 am What the blue hell was going on with the art in this issue?  It's really hard not to be taken out of it when you flip a page and the kid is suddenly years older and has a different hairstyle.

Not to draw too fine a comparison, but I said the same thing about this as I did after seeing The Passion of The Christ.

I can't say I enjoyed it, but I'm glad it was made.

You're welcome.

If you want a really in-depth synopsis of each episode, check out the Comic Geek Speak podcast.  One fella on the show, Murd, is an encyclopedia for this stuff.  The have whole episodes devoted to him explaining each issue.  The most recent one, featuring this issue and Superman Beyond 2 was an hour and a half. I really didn't think the baby thing was that confusing.  It was the child of one of his dupes, therefore, genetically, it was also a dupe.

And to eahc his own, but Ron is the only person I've heard that didn't think that issue was T-N-T.

Hurm.  I only pulled 8 books this week.  There's a couple I'm looking forward to reading, but nothing terribly exciting.  Though Magneto Testament is probably at the top of that list.

How about I understood the important parts of this book, and it was pretty good, though if I hadn't understood I would probably think it was pretty good, but might be better if I could understand it?

I don't know.  Can you enjoy something if you don't get it at all?  But anyway, I never said anything about it being awesome.  Elements of it lent itself to the 4-star rating because even though I had issue with the disjointed nature of the writing, I really thought there was a lot of food for thought in the ideas.  And comics that keep me thinking about them after reading always get a pretty good rating from me.
