There would have been a lot to have cleaned up, though. The New Krypton island, having to deal with Lex probably coming back and the kid. That whole mess with the kid probably would have never ended. Even if they tried to change it around like Lois found him (kind of like the Kents finding Clark) or he's Zod's son, it would still be a mess.
Superman Returns isn't bad, but let it be the shining example of how a tribute can be nice if done in small quantities. It's not something you should base your entire film around.
Just tell a good Superman story. He doesn't need angst, he doesn't always need to solve his problems with his fists, but he is a superhero and needs a physical challenge.
I'm so cautious with how Snyder is going to do that I'm afraid Superman Returns will look like The Matrix in comparison.
Problem is, that costume wasn't very good. It had a very artificial, plastic-y look. I wish he would've been given a better Superman suit.
I love Superman. I loved Superman: The Movie. Superman Returns...I didn't hate it but there wasn't much for me to go on. I remember being so underwhelmed in the theatre when I saw it. I think my biggest problem was the kid. It was so unecessary and then they played it so cautiously. They hinted and hinted and we're left to assume it from what Lois whispers to Clark in the hospital and from what Clark says to Jason in his room. But, geez, talk about packpeddling!
I gotta admit, I almost teared up at the end when Jonathan pressed the button.
And while it seems like EARLY Booster Gold, it's Booster Gold none the less and I can't wait! Also, it's a Booster/Beetle episode!
It'll be sad to see this show go. I've been watching it since the first episode but it looks like they're going to give us one hell of an ending.
For the most part, I agree with these choices. I'm just glad we didn't see Red Son on this list as it's referenced WAAAY to many times. It's a good story, don't get me wrong. But I personally liked Secret Identity better.
What about Up, Up and Away. It's basically the starter for the Post-Infinite-Crisis Superman.
Again, Rebecca Hall.
When it doesn't sell, they blame the fact that it had low sales. Why did it have low sales? Because they had us waiting so long we just lost interest! The blame gets shifted to us and I'm tired of it. I really am. How is it entitlement when their job was to get what they promised out on time? If we voice our frustrations, then we're just "whining fanboys" That's a term that's all too easy to throw around.
With Batwoman, this won't be too much of a problem considering a lot of us love the character and Williams' art. But in general, comics are a symbiotic entity with the publishers and the fans. We need your stories, you need our money. When you promise something and don't deliver on time, constantly saying "Oh, it'll come out later, don't worry" there is a limit to our patience. Why should we give you our money when you're always stringing us along?
It's a practice I really wish would go away.
Oh, you have no idea how much I agree with you. I love when they get big names for projects, then announce said project only for them to have may a page of written or a few panels drawn. Wait before you make those announcements, people!
