This issue does what a good second issue of a run SHOULD do; it picks up the threads left by the cliffhanger and advances the story. Lex has infected Superman with a virus that feeds off of his Kryptonian cells and mutates into a horrible monster. I’ve seen this before in Superman comics with Kancer in Joe Kelly’s run, but just because it’s similar doesn’t mean it’s bad. Luthor has also infected the people of Metropolis and is setting himself up to be their savior at Superman’s expense. You may be thinking this is a story you’ve heard before, but hey, it’s well told here and I can’t wait to see where this goes. The only complain I have is with the back-ups. It’s not that they’re bad, but Scott Lobdell is no Scholly Fisch
