Blending what’s going on in Blackest Night, yet still managing to be it’s own self-contained story, you certainly get a bang for your dollar here.
Mix in Barry embodying what it means to be a Blue Lantern and the hero he’s always been with a dash of the Rogues vs Black Lantern Rogues at Iron Heights and you get a surprising amount of character development, even for a Geoff Johns story. It’s amazing that even in a story where alien rings embody the corpses of dead friends and foes that so much is said in so little time. Whether you feel for Captain Cold’s loss, Barry lamenting all the people he didn’t get to know when he was dead, a surprise appearance at the end, this turned out to be a wondeful issue.
