This is likely the best issue of Aaron’s tenure on this title thus far. The story is beginning to make…

November 2, 2012 2:11 am This is a huge challenge because we are in a golden age of comic book talent right now. All of Snyder's work, Bendis does some great books, Waid is back on target again, Hickman has proven himself to be a modern master and the list goes on. However, for my money, the title is Invincible. For almost 100 issues now every single issue has been a 4 or 5 star book. It features Kirkman writing in his most natural way, slinging drama and humor in a virtually flawless symphony. It has touching moments, both sad and joyous, and action that ranges from elementary comic brawls to the shockingly grotesque. No stale rehashes. No lulls. No useless issues. No throw away elements. All rendered, of course, by the excellent Ryan Ottley. If he worked for either of the Big 2 he would be a top 5 artist within a matter of months. Lucky for us he prefers the independent world and ownership of his craft. Almost 100 issues. Just over 8 years of super hero excellence. Best comic being made.
October 30, 2012 6:03 pm I am reasonably optimistic about this move for the future of Star Wars. Disney's forte is IP creation , licensing and marketing. While this often leads to focus tested products that lack any particular edge, it also means that they maintain stringent quality controls that Lucas did not have. Lucas wrote what he wanted, how he wanted and didn't care if others didn't like it. While many of us love the core of his ideas, I believe we all recognize that he is not the best at executing those ideas from any meaningful standpoint. A lack of a real, meaningful editor has allowed him to write dull, listless stories in the prequels many us believe put a dagger in the Star Wars property. That isn't even accounting for his terrible direction and cornucopia of offbeat scenes that don't fit the theme of the Star Wars that was originally put out. Finally, there was his general belligerence and antipathy towards his own fans. People who made him rich and famous who would say 'We don't like this direction, don't do it' and his juicy raspberry response of 'They're my toys and if you want them you gotta play my way'. He complained that the fans ruined the experience of film making for him... perhaps he should have listened more closely to what they (we) requested.
October 30, 2012 5:54 pm Hrm. Looking through that list leaves me with a mixed feeling. There are a lot of good creators doing books I don't have much interest in reading. I'll give them a try, but I doubt I will stick with them. I am already a little sour on Uncanny Avengers, despite generally favoring Remender's work. On the up side, if Marvel keeps its line fit and trim like in the way this one seems to be... that is great news. Too many books flounder with middling talent and ideas that are put out there with no merit except to earn a paycheck. A tighter line will allow some better ideas to remain near the top, in theory. All in all, my reading habits won't change much, and I may be picking up slighter fewer books in total from Marvel.
October 29, 2012 10:34 pm I was trapped on a cruise ship in the Bahamas during a tropical storm. Also, a tornado near Memphis was damn impressive. Few mini-tornadoes locally.

October 22, 2012 12:28 pm I agree. Let people be people. Stop using others based on assumptions. Can we not resurrect this argument for the 100th time this year?
October 15, 2012 8:48 pm Man, the Hulk book really sucked...
