For your $4 you really get a tremendous amount of book. Two full sized, or near enough, stories featuring vampires. One set in the roaring 20’s, Hollywood decadence and the other an 1800’s outlaw Western. Both feature beautifully draw art with simple, but slick, layouts from the respective artists. The art in the Western was particularly well done and stylized perfectly to my taste, not entirely unlike that in Joe the Barbarian. I love the setup and the interaction of the characters in this first issue. The dialogue is genuine, fitting and easy to follow. The only complaint I might level would be that, were you inclined to be an adrenaline junkie, there is precious little action in either of these books.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. Doug – thanks so much for the kind words. So relieved you like the issue. Means a lot – stay in touch. S

  2. This is my tipping point. I’m going to try this book out.

  3. It’s Vertigo.  I’ll just wait on the trade paperback then.
