New Comics for 10.31.2012 dodged falling trees during Hurricane Bob

Note: We have no idea how Hurricane Sandy is going to affect comic book shipping in the northeast of the Unites States. If you live in a storm effected region–first, we hope you’re okay–you might want to check with your store once everything calms down.

Get to pulling this Wednesday’s books, and then let us know what you’re looking forward to most, what you’re dropping, what others should be buying and anything you’re thinking. Be heard, because we need you, iFanbase!

What are the iFanboys buying? Check their pull lists out here: Conor, Ron, and Josh.

And what about the rest of the staff? What are they buying? Check out their pull lists: Jim, Paul, Mike, Chris, Molly, Ryan, Ali, Chris, Jeff and Matt.

This week Conor Kilpatrick has the Pick of the Week!

Bonus Question: What’s the worst weather that you’ve ever experienced?

Comments

  1. A lightning strike once murdered my computer before my very eyes.

  2. I… I don’t have anything to pull this week. This feels weird.

BQ: The remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through my area back in 2008. It knocked out power to nearly the whole community for several days.

  3. Nice little week only three, Happy, American Vampire & Bedlam!

  4. Only 4 books this week – most looking forward to Rocketeer.

BQ: Got caught in a hailstorm on a motorcycle once – that was fun.

  5. Happy, AV, Aquaman, Darth Maul, USM(despite the fact that it’s a point 1, and maybe Action Annual

BQ: South Louisiana in late Aug of 2005 suffered through Hurricane Katrina. parts of that time in my life are horrifying. on the other hand we had one hell of a hurricane party(that’s when people gather who know work’s gonna be out and power is going to be off for a while so you have to bbq all the food in the fridges and freezers so it doesn’t spoil. throw in alcohol and a shit load of candles to mix and you have yourself a hurricane party).

  6. Ah the fifth wednesday. An odd small week of expensive books:

    Justice League Dark Annual
    Swmp Thing Annual

    Fatale
    Happy

    Tempted by:

Joe Kubert Presents (classic Kubert Hawkman!)
Masters of the Universe: origin of Skeletor (fraser irving!)

BQ: winter windstorm 15ish years ago, power knocked out, too loud to sleep. Kept waiting for the big tree in the back to fall over and kill me.

  7. Fairly light week:

    Avenging Spider-Man Annual
    BPRD: Hell On Earth
    Fatale
    Happy
    November Previews
    Rachel Rising
    Winter Solider
    Wolverine & The X-Men

  8. Rachel Rising #12 has me driving real fast to the store on Wednesday…..

BQ: Ice storm 1996 in Spokane,WA…. No power for 2 weeks, high winds with trees down all over the place. Driving was nearly impossible. Fun times!

  9. All these DC annuals are fuckin up my budget. Lookin forward to Happy, W&TXM, and American Vampire.

BQ: The blizzard of ’96 was pretty rough, but I was 13 so I had a blast. We had another doozie in ’09, and that was less fun. Hurricane Irene last year was anticlimactic, but we were without power for several days so that was pretty miserable.

  10. The lightest week for me in recent memory! Aquaman and Action Annual.

BQ: The Northridge Quake of ’94, here in L.A. I usually don’t even blink at quakes, but yeah, this one had me scared for my life and for my home. Have never felt the earth get so violent before (or after).

  11. Light week:

    AMERICAN VAMPIRE #32
    BATGIRL ANNUAL #1
THE ROCKETEER: CARGO OF DOOM #3
    WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #19

I may check out A+X if people seem to like it.

BQ: When I was 9 or so, my family was in Texas for a family reunion. During the summer there, in the middle of TX, it’s not unusual to have some pretty bad storms. That year, there was a tornado warning. It never quite got up to a tornado, but there was some killer hail. Golfball to baseball-sized chunks of ice. Scary. Made scarier still, by the fact that I was in the back of a pickup truck with a very thin metal shell that I could see being dented form the inside. Meep.

    • Was this in ’05?

I’m from Central Texas and in ’05 there was a horrible hail storm. On my side of town, they were softball size pieces. The wind was so strong that it was blowing pieces of hail through the windows of our house.

    • Wow… if I was 9 in ’05, that’d make me 16 now. I’m not doing that #$%@ again.

No, this was more like 1982 or so. Lake Brownwood, if you know where that is. I’ve got family in Abilene & Sweetwater.

    • Ah…yeah, I live really close to both Brownwood and Abilene.

  12. Interesting week :-

    Aquaman #13
    Batgirl Annual #1
    Justice League Dark Annual #1
    Bedlam #1
    Fatale #9
    Happy #2

BQ : The ‘Great Storm’ of 1987, as it’s referred to in the U.K. I was a student with a part-time job in a department store. I didn’t let the weather stop me from making the journey to work but the experience of pushing with all your momentum against the wind in order to walk forwards was a novel one. The general public weren’t at all put off by flying debris, or the smashed, blown-in shopfront in their desire to buy a kelim rug, garden furniture or light fittings.

  13. 5th week random pull list:

    AMERICAN VAMPIRE #32
    SUPERMAN FAMILY ADVENTURES #6
    SWAMP THING ANNUAL #1
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ONGOING #15
    MICE TEMPLAR HC VOL 03
    ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #16.1
    WOLVERINE AND X-MEN #19
    RACHEL RISING #12

BQ: Here in Australia two years ago we had pretty terrible floods in most of our state.

  14. I was in Buffalo, NY in 1984 during a blizzard. That was a hairy week and a half…

  15. BEDLAM #1
    FATALE #9
    RACHEL RISING #12
    TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #15
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ANNUAL 2012
THE ROCKETEER: CARGO OF DOOM #3
    WINTER SOLDIER #12
    WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #19

    Not too shabby I suppose.

BQ: When hurricane Opal blew through the panhandle and into Georgia. I was telling a buddy of mine about that today. My next door neighbors and I used to roam around the woods behind our houses every day. Didn’t even recognize the place after the storm. Trees down, several tornadoes, power out for days. Crazy times.

  16. BQ: Hurricane Katrina. We we’re living in Bay St. Louis, MS 1/2 block from the beach. We pulled out Sunday afternoon when it started to rain, winds around 20 mph. We stayed about 60 miles North in Picayune in a friend’s house. The storm came through Monday morning right over us. When we went back to the beach on Tuesday morning the house was gone and everything we left behind was, too. The storm surge took out houses almost 1/2 mile in and flooded much further than that. So glad we didn’t stay.

  17. I will walk through a Hurricane to get my comics. But yikes! this week I am spending waaay too much money.

  18. BQ: In 1996, my and my sister had to walk from our school to our home in the middle of a blizzard. We were in Philadelphia at the time and we were in second grade (making us 7 years old at the time). Granted we were like, 10 blocks away from home but it was still a challenge to walk. Our parents couldn’t get us because of the conditions of the road so it wasn’t like they didn’t want to get us. I got an extra Christmas present for doing that actually…

Oh and I’m only getting AQUAMAN and HAPPY this week.

  19. Swamp Thing annual 1
    Ultimate spider-man 16.1

  20. Aquaman
    Fatale
    Happy
Fashion Beast (Alan Moore! Why is no one picking this up!?)

BQ: I’m from Ireland, it’s worse weather almost year round!

  21. A+X #1, Action Comics Annual #1, Avenging Spider-Man Annual #1, AVX: Consequences #4, Captain Marvel #6, Swamp Thing Annual #1, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #15, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #16.1, Winter Soldier #12 & Wolverine and the X-Men #19.

  22. Only 2 books this week. Rocketeer and aquaman. I may skip picking up and get them next week.

Bonus question: it’s a toss up between the Canberra bush fires ten years ago or the nyngan floods when I was 11-12

  23. I was trapped on a cruise ship in the Bahamas during a tropical storm. Also, a tornado near Memphis was damn impressive. Few mini-tornadoes locally.

  24. 6 book week, which isn’t bad I do have 2 annuals. So yeah.

BQ: I live in Canada, so lots of snow and ice on the streets. Now while I might have been four when this happened, but the Glaze of ’98 was pretty bad.

  25. Wow. Such a tiny pull this week…

    The Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom
    Wolverine and the X-Men

BQ: I’ve in Alabama when Katrina hit, when Ivan hit, and I lived in South Carolina when Hugo hit. The eye practically passed over my house. I’ve been through some rough weather.

  26. looking forward to Rocketeer, Aquaman, and both Justice League Dark and Swamp Thing annuals. A very nice Halloween haul.
BQ: The blizzard of 2011 aka. The Groundhog day Blizzard in Chicago. I barely made it home because of the white out conditions and I was snowed in my home for 2 days. We got an easy 2 feet of snow in my neighborhood. I was lucky I took the train and not the bus seeing as how almost 900 vehicles and their passengers were stranded over night.

  27. Swamp Thing and Justice League Dark annuals, Happy and Aquaman.

BQ: hurricane Ivan in the Cayman isl, it was a category 5 storm that dropped to 4 as it hit the island, pretty hardcore stuff. The fallout was the real treat, I found it amazing to see how the lack of electricity, the scarcity of food and the reality of being stuck on an island without contact with the outside world (no phone signal or internet for the 7 days I was there before being evacuated) will turn most people into either sobbing or violent zombi-ish creatures. Most were either crying for their wives or husband, fighting, looting, stealing or drinking non stop.

I came back emaciated with little trust in human nature.

Even worst, I was without comics for 7 days.

  28. Just Action Comics Annual 1. Just one comic? Wow. Freaky!

BQ: I don’t remember. Some blizzard or something.

  29. Wolverine and the X-Men
    X-Men Legacy
    New Mutants

I am kicking myself for not picking up Rocketeer Cargo of Doom (thats what trades are for, right?)

BQ: I live in the Sacramento area, so my idea of bad weather is rain and wind. You all have me beat on the bad weather question…

  30. Happy #2
    Bedlam #1
    New Deadwardians #8

BQ: Pittsburgh got about 2 1/2 feet of snow a couple winters ago. It shut everything down for a couple days.

  31. Aquaman #13
    Happy #2
    Swamp Thing Annual #1
    Justice League Dark Annual #1
    Ghosts #1
    The New Deadwardians #8
    Lot 13 #1
    Fashion Beast #3
BQ: I’m from England the weathers miserable roughly 90% of the year.

  32. Fairly light week. No drops this week. Looking forward to the Rocketeer the most. Dinosaur jetpack would be a great band name.

    AQUAMAN #13
    BATGIRL ANNUAL #1
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: THE ORIGIN OF SKELETOR #1
THE ROCKETEER: CARGO OF DOOM #3
    WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #19

BQ: Snow storm shut the city for about a week, 2 years ago. Pretty crappy, but nothing compared to NYC and NOLA. Can’t really complain. Stay safe people!

  33. Most looking forward to the Rocketeer and Winter Soldier.

BQ: I lived in Florida for three years and I’m not a huge fan of humidity so thick you need to swim to your car, so basically those three years is the worst weather I’ve experienced.

  34. Justice League Dark Annual #1
    Batgirl Annual #1
    Batman Beyond Unlimited #9

  35. Batgirl Annual
    Action Comics Annual
    Aquaman 13
    Wolverine and the Xmen 19

BQ: Wicked sandstorm south of Baghdad in 2003. Everything was red and nothing worked. Crazy.

  36. Fatale #9
    Godzilla #6
just added Haunt #27 to my list
Looney Tunes #209, yes, I love Bugs Bunny, still funny
Rocketeer: CoD #3, almost over (boohoo)
and The Tick #101, too funny

BQ: a blizzard back in 1990 or 1991, took me 3 hours to drive 20 miles to work…and the office was closed, yes pre-cell phone era

  37. BQ: The eye of Hurricane Gloria went over my house. That is a wacky experience. From terrible to calm to terrible again.
