February 14, 2018 9:23 am For those interested, it looks like the complete Rock Candy Mountain is being released in two trades and both are in this month's Previews. I think vol 1 came out a while ago but they relisted it now that 2 has been solicited. If you buy them from Discount Comic Book Service, they'll run you $15 for both. That's the route I took.
October 23, 2017 11:04 am I had to quit reading Neil Gaiman and Michael Reeves' InterWorld novel because the main character was a high school student who only made old man references. The kid pulled out such red-hot pop culture as "The 3 Stooges", The Twilght Zone, and (most damning) Errol Flynn. It pulled me right now.
October 10, 2017 12:33 pm UPDATE: Episode 3 of Inhumans did nothing to fix its flaws. If anything, it was even more boring that the previous two episodes. Even so, I remain committed to finishing the next five episodes.
October 10, 2017 12:30 pm I can't believe that I have seen all of Legion but Ron hasn't. But, I mean, in his defense, he has seen all of The Tick and all those Netflix shows and I haven't. Still! Legion was great!
October 5, 2017 5:28 pm I had an almost exact opposite reaction to everyone else to these pilots. First, I got bored by The Gifted. The son's powers seemed routine and the daughter was Invisible Woman, I guess? And the pilot ended in yet another run/fight through an empty warehouse, something that happens in every superhero show. Also, I didn't realize that was Sunspot or Thunderbird(?). Anyway, I felt like it wasn't different enough for me to care nor did it make me invest emotionally in any character. But Inhumans? I really enjoyed. I've been loving Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. That's the only comic show I watch these days now that the CW is no longer being shown on Hulu. And this builds on stuff that happened there, which I like. I've never read a real Inhumans comic, though I have read some Ms. Marvel. But I thought the series looked gorgeous once they came to Earth. (I've also never seen Lost or Game of Thrones.) I dunno. It worked for me. It helped that I didn't pay Imax prices to watch it too.
September 25, 2017 11:03 am Ah! This is helpful. Thank you!
September 23, 2017 9:48 am I owed the first two phone books once upon a time but dumped them when I realized I probably wasn't going to finish it. Sounds like I should have stuck with it. Right now, these things are hard to find and out of print. It looks like they started digitizing them and then stopped. I wish Dave Sim cared more to keep this stuff accessible to current readers. Say what you will about DC and Alan Moore's relationship, but DC wants to give you WATCHMEN in whatever damn format you prefer.
September 14, 2017 11:36 pm That final smash cut? A+.
September 14, 2017 7:55 pm I like how the first 5 minutes of the ep were just talking about Tick history and also Josh was there. For the record, I loved the Tick cartoon, own the original Edlund comics in trade form, own the book detailing the plots of the cartoon, own the trading cards of the cartoon, saw maybe an episode of the 2001 reboot, and still haven't seen this reboot. Anyway, I'm looking forward to eventually watching this show.
