I enjoyed this book reasonably well, but it very much has the feeling of ‘not mattering’. This led me to the discovery of what is ‘wrong’ with Outsiders: the book does not know if it is intended to stand on its own or if it is supposed to be a Batman family book. It is only remotely in sync with the rest of DC. They keep tying it to Alfred and Batman, but never enough to make you feel ast hough they’re actually in the Batman group. One problem with this issue is, simply, Batman’s normal rogues gallery is well below the scope of the powers this team possesses and they’re sent out to fight Batman second-string enemies.

  1. The rogues and Alfred are the only reason why I liked it.  I’m starting to like Owlman a little though.  I guess because he looks so much like the new NightOwl from the Watchmen flick.  I don’t know nothing about his origin though.

  2. Well, that’s my point… I may have failed to get it across. This team is not handled in a way wherein they stand on their own, they’re not allowed to be part of one of the clusters… they just feel pointless in teh current DC. In a vaccuum.
