The return of the Flash that everyone seems to love.

This was, to me, an extremely lackluster issue. As a relatively new reader to the Flash, and not a big fan of DC as a whole – though I continue to try repeatedly. If you have not been a fan of the Flash, or DC in general, for a few years at the least you will not get a lot of the inside references. This is absolutely DC porn. If you do not love DC style books and DC characters and the DC method… this is not for the uninitiated reader. Additionally, this is a dense, wordy read that buries you in a lot of dialogue that is almost entirely superfluous. The art is good, but far from excellent and not Van Sciver’s best work. It is often cluttered and hard to read. There is very little flow throughout the story in my opinion. This was a very average, very plain comic book.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 3 - Good

Comments

  1. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thought this issue was ‘meh’!

  2. I don’t think it was average for the reasons you do (re: the stuff about references and DC methodology), but, yeah. This is a completely decent comic. Not worthy of the praise some people are heaping on it. They’re celebrating averageness as if it were the best mainstream comics can do anymore…

  3. Somehow I’ve stumbled upon a strange anti-Flash cult group meeting. Slowly, I back away from the group as a make my way to the exit. Running now I make one final leap to safety…….help!!!!

  4. curious to know what you consider the "dc style/method" to actually be.

  5. @Flapjaxx: Fantastic point.
