I have been a big fan of the Top Ten franchise since Alan Moore founded it about ten years ago. The current incarnation of the characters is not, one could surmise, as deep or elaborate as Alan’s stints with the characters. However, that is a largely unfair comparison to make. There are, functionally, no writers capable of telling stories with as much intricacy as Alan Moore. This story focuses on Girl 2 and her struggle to find her place in a world that is, generally, ambivalent to her existence. The art is clean and tells the story with a proper rhythm, with ample ‘Easter Eggs’ that are a Top Ten mainstay. The writing is direct, fun and personal. There are no Moore-ian twists thrown at you, but there is a good lay understanding of how to write a compelling character in an interesting situation. This issue read somewhat like a typical episode of Law & Order.
