This is the last teaser issue in the series. After this the culmination of almost six years of story comes. Though the series will continue according to Willingham, it will have a new direction and storyline. This issue stomps on Boy Blue's heart (again) and brings us back to what most consider the core cast (Big Bad Wolf, Snow White, Charming, etc.) It also introduces the element of the 'farm Fables' considering breaking away from the Fabletown compact to join Ambrose, I think this will get more air time after the big war plot.
A rare guest artist appearance this month. Nico does a very good job drawing this issue and brings her (his?) own touch to the book. I like the art in this issue about as much as I like the regular artist. It really brings out the character in some of the supporting cast. I could read a monthly drawn by her (him?) without a bit of worry.
I am, literally, waiting with baited breath at the upcoming plot. Who will die? Who will win the war? What is the plan? What will happen with some of the shadier characters (Totenkinder)?
For long running books that require a ton of backstory to get into, this one is easily the best. Start from the beginning and you will be rewarded every issue. There are, however, precious few jumping on points in the story. This is just like watching Heroes or the Shield; you could start watching half through a season, but you'd be lost about what's really going on.
