The real story here is not the great writing. The story here is not the good art. The story here is not even the story itself. It is the way that Remender conveys the loss of what could have been. He juxtaposes his father’s failure against the son’s. The failure of Flash in the same ways Eddie failed. Time wasted away from those you love and those who matter. The real story here in only on the last page of this book and, as good as the rest of the book looks, that page is where Fowler earns his dollars with exquisite acting.
