This was one of the most shocking issues of a comic I’ve read in some time. Unfortunately, my surprise wasn’t…

May 22, 2013 6:00 pm Only book I read... But very hard to imagine a stronger candidate for my POTW coming along. Wow! Instant classic issue!!
April 2, 2013 11:00 am I've cut my comics spending frantically in the last year and not-buying $3.99 issues is a major part of that. I do still cave occasionally and Aaron and Ribic's Thor has been such a case. But the irony is that most books I cave on are books that I'll definitely want the trades of! Gets even more tricky because I usually don't know if I'm trade-waiting a worthy book without at least checking out the first issue... That said, I think im just gonna go ahead and assume this trade will be worth my dollar. Gonna be a tough wait but the patient comic-reader really can avoid the overpriced $3.99 books. Heck, Marvel Unlimited is really only about 6 months behind.
March 4, 2013 9:27 pm I feel like most readers have collectively decided that this is going to be an exteptionally good story and are trade-waiting. It's been tough. But I am SO excited to dive into this. Bendis is writing 5-6 AWESOME books a month right now. Many (myself included) didn't love much or most of his Avengers work in recent years, but it is INSANE that a writer this prolific and altogether talented can be overlooked by some of those who also didn't care for his Avengers work. Going to be spending a LOT of money on some of his books in the next few months as this and more of his work are released as hardcovers!
January 31, 2013 11:12 am There was a collection of Avengers: Origins one shots about 18 months ago. They were mostly awful, but the Vision Origin was INCREDIBLE and featured Ultron as Vision's creator and the issue's villain. By far my favorite Ultron story. And it was a one and done and perfect intro to the character to boot! Loved Ultron Unlimited too. Great list. Really hope Age of Ultron bucks the trend of sub par events from Marvel lately...
January 28, 2013 1:02 pm I give Hickman the benefit of the doubt on this particular issue. He doesn't write traditional arcs. There are definitely questions to be answered in the story he's telling, and am confident that he will address them.
January 9, 2013 7:08 pm Wow. I honestly didn't think this book could possibly get even better. But here we are.
January 7, 2013 6:04 pm Honestly, I just think that it's great to finally see Marvel place Brian Wood on a well hyped Book with large sales potential. Seeing him paired with a heavy hitter like Coipel is a great sign even without knowing what the book will be.
January 2, 2013 8:27 pm The problem with most of Bendis Avengers stories was that he tried to make them the X-Men. I can only read so many stories in which the Avengers are hated and feared. It's not what most avengers stories should be. But it's a central driving force of the x-men, along with teen angst and all the drama of choosing the right alegiencies and life path. Bendis is a perfect fit for the x-men. Hell, he probably should have been on an x-title (And Ultimate Spidey, obviously!) all along.
December 19, 2012 7:33 pm Yep, that's the best way to build up those characters in the esteem of readers.
December 19, 2012 10:02 am Honestly, not many avengers runs I'd reccomendes personally! Hickman's first issue feels very different from 'classic' avengers stories. But there is one GREAT collection of Avengers stories! I'd actually go with the trade of warren Ellis' Secret Avengers. Six one and done stories, each with STELLER artists. Seriously a perfect collection to get someone who likes the heady sci-to element of Hickman. The one and done nature of each issue also makes it very accessible.
