Gonna give it a try. This one is on my hot seat though.

  2. Wrkn4life Wrkn4life says:

    Good luck with this one

  3. AmirCat AmirCat says:

YES!! Previews look soooo cool! Kirby Lives!

  4. BCDX97 BCDX97 says:

I’m no DiDio hater, but the Outsiders was pretty horrid. And I’ve never been a big fan of Keith Giffen’s art. I have very low expectations for this, so I could be pleasantly surprised. Or I could just pass on it.

  5. thompsonlive thompsonlive says:

I have a feeling this will be the top of chopping block when I start cutting books after all the second issues of the new 52 come out. Who knows though maybe it will surprise me.

  6. I know it will be purty. I think DiDio can strike a cool bronze age feel here. He did it to pretty good effect in his Metal Men feature for Wednesday Comics. He could pull it off here.

  7. TomO TomO says:

This is one of those titles that just might be crazy enough to work.

Or maybe I’m just projecting my hopes a little too much.

We shall see, but 152 pulls is a better start than I figured it would have.

  8. ctrosejr ctrosejr says:

Unfortunately for DiDio, I suspect this will be among the first of the Nu52 not to survive. Based on two CBR polls, this title came up dead last in reader interest. Unless this book can get serious buzz, I think the attrition rate will be high.

That said, I hope I am wrong and this is a hit because… why not?

    • AmirCat AmirCat says:

The good thing about DiDio doing this is that it will last, cause he is the boss. :D

    • BCDX97 BCDX97 says:

I thought I, Vampire was dead last?

    • ctrosejr ctrosejr says:

The way I calculated the ranking “I, Vampire” was 46th. (My calculation was: % of Likely to Buy – % of Unlikely to Buy. “Absolutely” + “Very Likely” + “Likely” = “Likely to Buy”; “Unlikely” + “Not At All” = “Unlikely to Buy”.)

In case anyone is curious, the bottom seven were:

      46 I, Vampire
      47 Voodoo
      48 Static Shock
      49 Blackhawks
      50 Hawk & Dove
51 Sgt. Rock and the Men of War
      52 Omac

    • SteenAR SteenAR says:

I think the worst thing for this book is that Didio is writing it. I’m personally excited for it but Didio doesn’t have the greatest reputation right now among a lot of comic fans… They all think he’s a dick.

    • I don’t think DiDio’s a dick, I just don’t think he’s a good writer. The fact that Outsiders was allowed to run for as long as it did seemed very much to be what AmirCat said above “he’s the boss”. Too many other really good titles (R.E.B.E.L.S. for one) were cancelled before Outsiders bit it.

  9. glunders glunders says:

I didn’t realize Keith Giffen’s co-writing this. Definitely makes me a bit more optimistic, though I was going to pick this up on the basis of the art and because of my own deep interest in the character.

  10. kcekada says:

Great cover. Giffen as layout artist is a good thing, and though I’m not crazy about his illustrations, his pseudo Kirby style should work for this. DiDio though, is the x-factor. Wish someone else was writing instead of him. Still, giving it a couple of issues to convince me.

  11. I wasn’t even remotely interested this and then I’ve been slowly won over by everything I’ve seen and read about it since its announcement. I’m ready and have high hopes. Giffen ftw

  12. spawn spawn says:

There’s actually been some good press about this book, and it looks pretty different and fresh…so sure, why not? That extra two pounds would only go on sweets anyhow :/

  13. NodNolan NodNolan says:

I really REALLY enjoyed this issue. Its a wonderful homage to Kirby and his outlandish ideas. This looks like it gonna be added to the pull pile.

  14. Ntpmcrtp Ntpmcrtp says:

I wasn’t planning on picking this up, but my shop had tossed it into my pull folder and I gave it a flip thru and bought it based on the art. I was pleasently surprised, last time I read Didio was his horrid Outsiders run. This was fun & I look forward to seeing Kevin dealing with his OMAC posession. The art was amazing! Very much influenced by Kirby (obviously) but with a delightful Gieffen twist.

  15. thompsonlive thompsonlive says:

Ummm what the hell did I just read? I feel more lost than Taylor swift without auto tune. Seriously what even happened? who is brother eye? Or any of these people for that matter? This is obviously not meant for new readers. Art was a fun throwback but I will not be back for seconds.

    • SageShini says:

….Are you trolling? I mean, this book couldn’t BE any more for new readers. There’s no decades of continuity to explore here, dude. There are only three old concepts in the entire book (or for that matter, to tie this book to the DC Universe): O.M.A.C., Project Cadmus, and Brother Eye.

It’s right there in the book who Brother Eye is–a satellite created by Cadmus that was eventually rejected and forgotten about. I doubt there’s another DC comic on the stands right now that’s for new readers more than this.

  16. drdeeeznutz drdeeeznutz says:

This was a fun book. Wacky villians and lots of shit getting destroyed with wonderful Kirby inspired art 4/5

  17. SteenAR SteenAR says:

I haven’t read anything about the OMAC character and know literally nothing about this comic. But holy crap was this a blast. I’m excited to find out who all the characters are and what the crap is going on. I am all in on this book. Great art, crazy stories, weird villains and just a whole lot of happiness.

  18. AquaPimp82 AquaPimp82 says:

    Well, this happened.

  19. Mustbedamned Mustbedamned says:

This was the surprise of the week for me. Loving the Kirby inspired art. I’ll be sticking around for at least a few more issues here.

  20. RahUniQue RahUniQue says:

    This was so much F.U.N.!

  21. party party says:

Unique in that I have no strong feelings one way or the other about this one. I either loved or disliked everything else. After this, however, I just found myself saying “Okay…”

  22. This book really felt like an Image book and that’s a good thing. I honestly did not expect to like this title, but it punched me right in the face with awesomeness! I hope this title catches fire, because it felt so good. If not for Animal Man, OMAC would be my POTW.

  23. cosmo cosmo says:

Surprised by all the strong reactions here — may need to add this to my Week Two pull list . . .

  24. Flash923 Flash923 says:

Did I miss something?? REALLY?? 2 out of 5 in tribute to Jack and thats really the onlt reason otherwise; this was a sack of crap on hobo’s stick!! Just seemed confusing and really boring!!

    Just sayin’,

    K
