June 15, 2013 4:17 pm Well yeah, I get all that, but it makes him look selfish when he does nothing to uphold his father's dying wish later on. In fact, he's down right careless about the whole thing. It was just weird to me to make such a big deal about protecting his identity and then being so careless about it throughout the rest of the movie.
June 15, 2013 3:01 pm Oh and to go along with the identity thing it really bothers me that he's willing to sacrifice his father's life to protect his identity but then pretty much doesn't give much thought to protecting his identity through the rest of the movie.
June 15, 2013 3:00 pm Those things you just mentioned are my biggest problem with the movie, to me they are what keep it from being a really good or great movie, because they were honestly simple fixes. And it's going to be weird in the sequel if they have Lex Luthor come in and be like the smartest man ever and not be able to figure out something that took Lois like 2 days to figure out.
June 15, 2013 11:24 am I think Endlessw is right, I think Zod's crew just jumps from place to place but never actually fly.
June 15, 2013 11:08 am @BC1 @BC1 the difference is that in the Avengers they made a specific point to show them rescuing civilians from the destruction and trying lead the attack away from the people to protect them, while in Man of Steel there is none of that, and it would have been much, much easier for Superman to get Zod away from the city than it was for the Avengers to lead and army away from the people.
June 14, 2013 9:56 pm Yeah I'm willing to believe he's a Superman fan, but a real person? Not buying it.
June 14, 2013 9:05 pm SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER My problems with him killing Zod are: 1. Why? What's the point of putting that in there? If it leads to him not killing in the future then okay, but maybe make some reference to it I this movie. Honestly just seems like a better idea not to put it in there at all because you have to know it's going to be controversial and out of character. 2.He kill him pretty brutally, just unnecessary. 3. The moment didn't feel earned at all. What I mean by this, is that Superman spends a great deal of time showing little concern for human life. In fact, Superman is without a doubt responsible for killing thousands of people in this movie. Other than Lois, and some soldiers, Superman does little to show he wants to save civilians at all once the fighting starts. He never tries to move the fight out of Smallville and into the fields. He never tries to draw Zod out of Metropolis. Instead he does things like throw the villains into gas stations and buildings full of people....I mean, just throw in a couple of scenes of him taking the time to usher people to safety, or protecting them from debris, or trying to take the fights away from the people. It's not very good story telling the way it was done because it seems like people are collateral damage to him throughout the end of the movie until this scene, and that makes it less powerful I think.
June 14, 2013 7:54 pm I loved This is the End. It's pretty stupid (intentionally) but I laughed through the whole thing, if you like crude humor then you'll probably like it a lot.
June 14, 2013 7:37 pm SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER I don't see how they wouldn't know, I mean, the government was so intent on finding out who he was they were sending up multi-million dollar satellites to try and find out something that took Lois like 2 days to figure out. And that was before Zod's crew went to the Kent farm and they rumbled in Smallville. I think a third grader could connect the dots there. And like you said, that cop has to know, Lois calls him Clark right in front of him, and Pete knows for sure and I think it can be assumed other people in Smallville would have to at least suspect.
