Good:
+ To begin with, the art is fantastic as usual. I almost feel like I do not even need to bother saying this, but I love Amanda Conner's art so much I think it would be wrong for me not to praise it each month. Heck, I love her art so much I just picked up a copy of JSA Classified #1 signed by her. Anyways, once again, Conner's art and especially her character expressions are so well done words are not really that necessary. The cover is simple yet still I think it is really cool. Another stellar effort by Conner.
+ The story is also very well done again. It nicely wrapped up the battle with the space creatures using her intellect, showing that PG is more than just a pretty girl with super powers. It also continued the hilarious interactions between PG and Vartox as he tries to convince PG to help him repopulate his planet. It turns out, that she does not even need to mate with him but instead just touch some special orb on his ship to help him give new life to the people of his planet. The name of the orb is the Fertilizor and it shoots out a Pregno Ray. No seriously. This may sound completely absurd, mostly because it is, but in the context of the story it not only works, but it simply adds to the fun, humor, and campy sci-fi feel the past couple of issues have had.
+ Another thing I particularly liked in this issue is how PG is written. Palmiotti and Gray have consistently written PG well, however, I think this issue was one of their better efforts. You get to see a full array of her emotions, as she has to resist punching Vartox several times (though she does sock him eventually), she grows to more or less accept him, we get to see her laid back and enjoying dinner and drinks in an elegant dress, and we even get to see her a bit tipsy. One of my favorite moments is at the end when she gets home and into bed just in time for her alarm clock to go off. She then smashes it to pieces saying she does not want to get up for work. I think a lot of these things not only give her a very detailed and engaging personality, but also help to show that despite her good looks and super powers she is also incredibly human and actually easy to relate to at times.
+ Finally, I like the setup with Satanna throughout the issue. It sets up the next few issues well as she works to develop a plot to bring PG down.
Bad:
- I really do not have anything bad to say about this issue.
Overall, another stellar issue of Power Girl. It narrowly beat Amazing Spider-man and Dark Avengers for my pick of the week.
My rating: 5/5
Art: 5 - Excellent
