For me, this title is exactly what the DC relaunch is supposed to be about. Making the characters different, younger, and in Superman’s case, more brash. It’s about redefining characters like Luthor, Lois or Jimmy. It didn’t seem like it was supposed to be just a continuation of the same old same old like in Batman where you’re younger, yes, but you’ve still had 3 robins and a 4th who is also your son.

A son created by Action Comics’ very own Grant Morrison. After his great run on All-star Superman, I know I’m probably not the only fan who wanted to see him writing Supe’s again. And he doesn’t disappoint. This was a great read – keeping me engaged from start to finish. A finish that, wow, I gotta see what happens next.

And let’s not forget Rags’ art. I was a little skeptical about the jeans and boots look at first, having never been a fan of Superboy’s jeans and t-shirt uniform (I wear basically that uniform to work every day), but the way it’s drawn pulls you in and totally works within the story.

Overall, my favorite of the new 52 after 2.1 weeks (.1 being JL)

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
