I may not have read that many Superman comics, but in the few stories I have read, he always seems to show up, filling the whole page, and then the other superheroes talks (or rather thinks to themselves) about how awesome he is. And I always think “Don’t tell me, SHOW me.”

This showed me. I loved this issue. LOVED IT. You get to see Superman save people, but here it’s not just used as filler material before the next space monster shows up. It’s awesome, and it really shows the heart that lies underneath the blue t-shirt with the S-symbol.

I have seen that some people are reacting to the fact that this version of Superman is more violent. But don’t we all know that he’s not going to be that by the end of this arc? Maybe others disagree, but I would rather see a story that explains why Superman has chosen his moral code, than just starting with him being born with it.

Oh, and the issue made me think Clark Kent was awesome too. Now that was a surprise.
