Name: Chuck Stevens

Bio: I've been an on again/off again comics fan since just after the Death of Superman in 93.  I've pretty much been a DC fan throughout, but I've decided to branch out into Marvel with this whole Dark Reign stuff.  Plus I've gotten caught up on Invincible and Walking Dead since the guys always rave about it.

Saturnians do indeed have the same powers as Martians.  They shape shift, have mental abilities, etc.  I believe they're also vulnerable to fire, if memory serves me correctly.  J'emm has always been an ally and friend to J'onn, the Martian Manhunter.  He showed up in the "Rock of Ages" story in Grant Morrison's JLA as part of Luthor's Injustice Gang as J'onn's opposite number, but he was being controlled by Luthor's Philosopher's stone.  If you can ever track down the Martian Manhunter solo series from the late 90s, there's a storyline where J'onn visits Saturn and delves into their culture.  There are red Saturnians and white Saturnians, although the two races made peace, unlike the green and white Martians.

June 11, 2009 5:20 pm I totally get that you don't like Johns repeating himself here.  But if you listen to or read interviews of him, he's definitely doing it on purpose.  He's been drawing parallels between these two silver age icons all along, like how Hal died a sinner and Barry died a saint, Hal's domain is space and Barry's is time, etc.  If Geoff's run on GL thus far is any indication, we're in for an awesome ride with Flash for years to come, and that excites me.
June 10, 2009 10:13 pm @Fvckstick That's Ra's Al Ghul, a major Batman villain who happens to be Damian's grandfather (Bruce hooked up with his daughter, Talia).  If you saw Batman Begins, he was the main villain in that, played by Liam Neeson.
June 10, 2009 8:01 pm Everyone's entitled to their opinion, of course, but I'm curious, did you read Green Lantern: Rebirth?  Because what Johns is doing here is very similar to what he did for Hal, and most everyone agrees that GL is killer book these days.  A lot of people might've thought that bringing back Sinestro was silly, but under Johns' hand, he's a much more compelling figure than he's ever been.  Don't you think he's got the same planned for Thawne?  And the part you're referring to with the "rubbery legs" is Barry rejoining the Speed Force.  He's definitely not going for perfect composition.  You said that you understand what they're trying to do, so how can you hold that against them?
May 14, 2009 10:57 pm No, they actually did a work around with Jimmy.  The little brother with the bowtie is gonna be the Jimmy Olsen from the comics.  This takes care of the fact that Jimmy shouldn't know Clark is Superman, he didn't marry Chloe, plus he's younger than Clark and Lois.  My guess is he'll go by Jimmy to honor his big bro.  Plus, I bet Lois comes back from the future with her mind wiped to think Clark always wore glasses or something.
May 1, 2009 1:41 pm Is there really THAT big a price difference between the trades and the hardcovers?  Or is it more about the format you prefer?
April 29, 2009 11:35 pm @coltrane, Actually, Secret Origin IS out.  I own it.
April 27, 2009 10:01 pm Some great moments, but also some head-scratching ones.  Yup, that was an episode of Heroes.
April 27, 2009 9:59 pm Yeah, but getting to see Ali Larter naked?  Totally worth it!
April 27, 2009 9:55 pm @eagle No more so that the previous couple of times they brought Nathan back.
