Name: Casey Thomasson

Bio: Warrior from the future sent back in time to teach the past how to be awesome. And also for comics.I lean toward the tights and fights genre, but if the story's not there then neither am I (I'm lookin' at you, Fear Itself...). That said, off-beat gems like Bone, Midnight Nation and Y: The Last Man have been known to keep my attention. Green Lantern, Silver Surfer, Young Justice and the Avengers made me love comics, but the loss of Slingers taught me the bitter lessons of fanboydom. Now I just love readin' 'em, commentin' on 'em and havin' a grand ol' time!

July 8, 2013 2:11 pm Thor: Disassembled is simply fantastic. The trade sits proudly on my shelf. I remember really wanting New Invaders to be good, but alas, Chuck Austen.

July 4, 2013 9:44 am This was a blast. Just like Humphries' other ludicrous book, Uncanny X-Force, this issue brought the fun and swagger that I've come to expect from the man. And, as an added bonus, this issue features characters that I actually care about! Praise our robot overlords!
June 16, 2013 11:14 pm Fantastic review, Paul. I have not your skill with words with which to express my feelings on the movie, but I'll do my best. There was a lot to like here. Cavill was inspired as Clark, Krypton felt real and lived-in in a way we've never seen on film, and our hero's journey was authentic and potent. Clarks' refusal to use his power in the face of constant abuse had me nodding my head with a smile on my lips. And that's what was most frustrating about the film: At its' very heart was a real and true understanding of what Superman is and what he means. And yet, at nearly every turn, the movie goes almost out of its' way to contradict that knowledge of the character in direct service to bombast. Jor-El speaks of inspiration, of hope, of protecting mankind, for they have the potential to grow and learn... ... yet Superman "protects" only through destruction, "inspiring" only with his fists as thousands die around him. Jor-El speaks of Kal's unique right to choose his destiny, to forge his own path... ... and then tells him exactly what he must do, even providing him a uniform with which to do it. Superman is forced to kill, and the action rocks him to his core. His primal yell at the horror of taking a life nearly moved me to tears... ... and, literally, 2 minutes later, he has a comedy scene with the general. The moment is gone, and no trace of it remains. I don't presume to know who, but it really seems like someone at the genesis of this project truly understood Superman, contributed his wisdom, and then was kindly shown the door as a grand spectacle was built around that pure heart. There's a lot to like about this movie, but to me, at the end of the day... Superman deserved a little better.
June 12, 2013 9:06 pm Excellent review, sir. I have nothing constructive to add, except... That two-page spread. God. Damn.
June 12, 2013 2:41 pm God, this is just everything I want in a comic. It not reinventing the wheel, by any stretch, but it clever, fun superhero action worthy of its' title character. I sure wish Booth was sticking around (turns out he was made to draw this book) but I'll definitely keep reading after he's gone. Great stuff.
June 12, 2013 1:54 pm Really enjoyed this. Great character work on Superman (and, more importantly, Clark) and his supporting cast. Great action, interesting mystery, and it just... felt like Superman. Looking forward to more. But yeah, the poster was a little annoying...
