When comes to picking out single issues my taste can be so so, but when ever I’m picking out a trade my taste is near flawless such was the case when I picked up saga of the swamp thing and I was mesmerized.

I was also skeptical of the relaunch until the dark books got announced and I saw that Snyder,Paquette and francavilla were going to tackle the muck encrusted mockery of a man and I got giddy.

Snyder’s story in this issue was fantastic but it felt like a total first issue which was great, the banter between alec holland and super man was fantastic with alec’s decision on wether or not to use the bio restorative formula that caused all the hoopla in the first place was fascinating.

The first big shock to me reading this is that it’s set after the events of brightest day which had me slightly miffed but I quickly got over it.Perhaps my favorite sequence in the issue came in the arrival of what I presume is the bad guy for the first arc and how he gathered his minions was creepily awesome.

You can’t talk about the creepy awesomeness in this book without talking about Yannick Paquette whose art I loved on batman inc from the opening two page splash to last page shot of swamp thing it was a visual treat.

the only downside to this issue though was having serval shots of superman looking like fat alec baldwin otherwise an amazing first issue which has me hooked for more!

Story: 5 - Excellent
