September 29, 2013 4:03 pm I am surprised by a lack of Parasite # 1 on art alone. I liked Kruder's take on the character too, a much better disguised version of greedy Rudy Jones from John's Secret Origins. I re-read it recently and John's writing of him felt just as ridiculously whiny as a few of his other bad guys, and while so is Kruder's, he is written much more self-deluded to the point of an anger to defend it. Sorry for the mini-review. Loved Sex Criminals but agree that Fraction might have been trying to hard. Zdarsky just sold me on the attitude. And damn I forgot East of West.
August 29, 2013 7:53 pm Whelp, let us add to this mash of lists. Batman/Superman Uncanny Avengers Thor: God of Thunder Nowhere Men The Flash Yeah, that ended up being super generic Justice League could have made it but I just read "Grumpy Old Fan" and how much the arcs might start running together like GL the past few years and...I don't know if I can handle it again.
August 4, 2013 10:35 pm Both comics and animation had potential, neither did much with it at all. However, the Flash movie before the opening credits and Zoom holding that tea cup looking boss are fantastic.
August 1, 2013 1:35 pm I'm still trying to figure out if I liked OGF or if it was a little too full of it's self, but man...it was just so rough, maybe as rough as Killer Joe. I think I'm going to spend the rest of my day watching JLU just to keep trying to get myself out that funk.
August 1, 2013 12:56 pm I thought it was a solid adaptation of the comics, there were just too many comics in it, like Paul said. I liked all the actors (I just think they were rushed in parts) and even liked that connection between Superman and Cyborg that never got played with in the comics. Some of those character models like everyone has said, (bubble jaw on Aquaman and Thomas Wayne) are kind of awful. But did anyone else kind of cringe on the 3D models of the Flashes running? The vehicles have been fine but for the people it is just way too stiff sometimes. Also, I'm re-watching now, Top's one line? Fantastic. Happy I just rented on PS3, though I do want to see those specials. It also brightened my day after watching Only God Forgives before it, which I guess says more about Only God Forgives then this.
July 31, 2013 10:03 pm Agreed, I love that comparison for Robbi Rodriguez's art with a splash of Naoki Urasawa for the faces. Just looking at the main charcter's father on the first page is like I'm starring at Geischt from UrasawaXTezuka's Pluto all over again.
July 29, 2013 10:46 pm Though yes, I would really like to see that Hal/Sinestro chemistry and not just have it implied. But that might be something for a later movie if you want to wash the taste of the previous one out of your mouth first.
July 29, 2013 10:44 pm Sorry, meant to leave that as a regular comment and my computer must have lagged out when I pressed leave a comment.
July 29, 2013 10:41 pm I would love to see Terry Crews as John Stewart, though he almost seems too likeable/charismatic for the role. I think he could (and I would love to see him) play it straight enough but something just seems instantly off about his casting to me no matter how much I love it. I really would love to see him step-up for it though. Common always looked the part and I hear he's great in Hell on Wheels but his cadence seems too loose, which is super ultra nitpicky but knowing him more from his rap career his voice is immediately how I think of him. Actually watching him act might change that for all I know.
July 21, 2013 3:59 pm I...cannot...buy anymore stuff Marvel. Please, I just, just, I just can't.
