Name: Ian Raney

Bio: I grew up on Long Island (aka Longuyland),  learned in Michigan, and settled in San Diego.  I've been collecting comics since Justice League Europe #41, which may have led to me collecting  every Justice League comic from  DeMatteis and Giffen's Justice League #1 to Justice League of America #113 (yeah the one with Fire, Blue Devil, Ice Maiden, Nuklon, Obsidian, and the Yazz).  Currently I'm collecting more DC than Marvel but I don't take sides.  I love me some good indie books (Y, Fear Agent, Scalped), but I'm usually late to the party and end up picking up the first trade.  I'm not one for forums (I don't have time to keep checking back for response!), but glad that i can leave comments here at iFanboy.

Definitely another solid issue.  It wasn’t as exciting as I was hoping though.  I think this was ruined by the…

February 21, 2008 4:39 pm @Balefuego:  Sorry.  UFF lost me a long time ago.  I tried to stay on, but I could never understand what was going on.  And I tried to pick it up again recently and i felt the same way.  Different strokes, for different folks I guess.
February 20, 2008 7:30 pm Haha...you mean OMAC wasn't your favorite Brave New World spin-off?!!
February 20, 2008 4:17 pm I'll keep buying this book because I like the pretty pictures.  I think the biggest problem is the hype before hand.  It was hyped as this awesome thing for soooo long due to the v.2 delay, so we were expecting this amazing epic.  What we got was a decent story that seems terrible in comparison to the hype and v.2.  But like I said, I'm still going to buy the book.
February 20, 2008 4:14 pm I'm really only buying it in the hopes that this storyline will tie up everything.  Also with Ultimatum looming and talks of one series being cancelled, the collector in me doesn't want to be stuck without the final couple of issues.  Hey, at least its better than Ultimate FF?
February 20, 2008 4:11 pm I heard on the PipeLine Podcast that this was a quick read.  Which I assume means light on the dialogue, heavy on the splash pages.
February 20, 2008 4:09 pm What is the point of having JLA if you are going to just use it to pimp other books.  Use JLA: Classified for that.
February 20, 2008 4:08 pm The only reason I'm still buying this is the hope that it will be better....and the fact that I have issue #1 to present.  If in the down periods of the flash in the past, its been much more engaging then this.  I think it needs more interaction with the Flash Legacy...and less of whatever it is they are doing now.
February 20, 2008 4:05 pm @PhantomPhrenemy:  Right there with ya.  I'm also on volume 2 of the omnibuses (man they are a beast to get through) and whats amazing is how much they are playing into this Kirby epic today.  I get the feeling that they are trying to make a logical ending to the storyline.  Nothing concrete yet, but pieces seem to be falling into place.  Grant Morrison just used the Guardian and said he would be popping up again.  Those people with bandanas and moustaches that ride the bikes in that crazy forest (sorry i'm at work...and couldn't think of the names of anything!) just popped up in last issue of Countdown.

As a result I'm feverishly trying to get through these Omnibuses before Final Crisis because I think (hope) it will pay off.

I like this book because it comes out weekly.  But I think they kind of forced all the characters to come together.  52 did a good job of bringing it all together and maybe they can pull that off here.  But so far...only buying it because its weekly.

And what was the poing of the Trickster, Pied Piper Storyline.  I haven't read this issue yet but it claims to be the last Pied Piper issue.  So baring any miracle, they basically took two reformed villians (which made them much more interesting...especially Trickster), and destoryed them physically and emotionally.  Originally pegged as the Buddy Comedy, it seemed more like gay bashing on the run.

But I'm still going to buy this and the next weekly they put out...because I'm a sucker for DC characters (especially those that don't get much attention)

February 20, 2008 3:56 pm @PhantomPhrenemy:  The may solicitations list checkmate #26 as being written by Bruce Jones.  Not sure if that means Rucka is gone.  I know he said due to the non-exclusive stuff he was leaving a book that would upset a lot of people.  Hoping its not this....
