my only question is, if crying sentry flew into space and he's broken now. who was standing next to osborne during his "we're free of the mutant problem" speech? was he only broken for a minute?
Otherwise I liked the book, loved the art. Pretty good stuff.
I love that Joe Q. is insisting that it's a great day for Marvel and no one should worry.
Which is easy to say when you just scored millions from someone buying your stocks and you get to keep your job on top of the deal.
That said, worries that Marvel will be messed with from a business perspective can be quickly cast aside when looking at Pixar.
Worries that Disney will screw with Marvel over content can be assuaged by the fact that Disney also owns Miramax and has since 1993.
I don't think we have to worry about the Mouse neutering Marvel.... Miramax has released The Crow, Clerks, From Dusk till Dawn, and Trainspotting not to mention many many other gritty and decidedly not family friendly fare while working under the Disney umbrella.
@Mangaman The workprint of X-men Origins: Wolverine was leaked weeks in advance of the movie being finished. The movie was already not-great, but it being leaked without post production made it even less great and word of mouth turned sour quickly... Ultimately this probably hurt the box office for the flick...
Wolverine going off on a rant at a dude selling leaked scripts and workprint video is just a funny meta-gag.
Over all I liked this book quite a bit. Then again I like all the first class books. I was introduced to the X-Men via the cartoons of the early-mid 90's and these books bring back those memories and that tone.
For some reason I still can't get into this. I really want to like it... but something about it just isn't grabbing me. I keep expecting it to get detailed and gritty... but nothing in the book is making me care about any of the characters.
it's like all the weirdness of Seaguy without any of the emotional connection... and with significantly more simplistic art.
@fvckstick I really loved the cover on this one too.
Totally agree that this is very much a "popcorn" movie in comic book form, The end was pretty great as well.
@WadeWilson. Killing with their Rings wasn't allowed... but that gives Kilowog a loophole for using a non-ring weapon.
Also I totally agree with the black comedy aspect of those funerals. I'm not sure it was intentional but it definitely made me say "oh no" with a chuckle when it happened.
I liked all of it, even the pencils and commentary bit.
