This one was a real disappointment for me! I love the Wildstorm characters featured in this book, particularly as portrayed back in the day by Warren Ellis and co., so I had really high hopes for this concept. I haven’t read a lot of Paul Cornell’s work, but what I have seen in Action Comics I thoroughly enjoyed. But this book just did not entertain me in any way, shape or form!
I might have been willing to give Cornell the benefit of the doubt and try a couple more issues before deciding whether to drop this book or not, had it not been for the mediocre (I’m being generous here, actually ugly was the first word to spring to mind)artwork by Sepulveda, the worst aspect of which has to be the unnecessary and gruesome redesign of the Midnighter costume. As it is there are so many other, more interesting and attractive titles coming out of the DC relaunch that I am not really in a position where I can justify giving poor books a chance to win me over.

  1. Sorry, everybody, as you might have guessed, this is not my review for Animal Man, which I really enjoyed, but rather for the dreadful Stormwatch, which I pretty much hated! Don’t know how these managed to get mixed up, but I’m writing these reviews on my IPhone and I think I’ve messed up on the navigation buttons somewhere. I can’t find any options that let me edit or delete my reviews, or change my ratings if I happen to tap the wrong number of stars by accident!
Basically, just remember Animal Man good, Stormwatch bad!
I think my real review for Animal Man is still listed below this one in the list of reviews!
