I really liked this book. The story felt a bit more “vertigo” that DCU and i guess thats because it just had a more realistic tone than other DC superhero comics. The art was really fresh, and of all the new 52 books that i’ve seen, this is one of the few thats really going outside of the DC house style and trying to push a new visual vernacular. The razor thin line work combined with the ultra flat colors provided this surreal illustrative quality that almost made it feel like old school gouache painted poster art.

Lemire continues to be one of my favorite writers working today. He has a unique ability to make you a bit inquisitively uncomfortable, but not totally creeped out. I’m definitely interested in following this series. I have no idea what to expect and It actually feels new and different.
