January 7, 2014 1:24 am Waid's take is one that I enjoy because it's not trying to be Bends or Miller. When Bendis ended his run, Brubaker was ok but the same thing, but then that whole Shadowland thing happened.....that just was not good....I like the Waid run because it's different and new. I guess as to why, I loved those stories. Both had the Kingpin/Mob element but were done in different ways. And on the other hand the way Hickman is doing Avengers is just such a chore to read, too densely written and he's trying to shoehorn too many characters and events into a small space so much that there is too much crosstalk. He and Fraction just aren't getting it done with their Marvel work for me.
January 6, 2014 2:21 am I re-read things that really stood out with me, and probably because a lot of the recent creators work just isn't having the same kind of impact. I re-read Wildcats 3.0, Bendis' Daredevil run, Miller's Daredevil run, and Byrne's Fantastic Four. Those and a lot of other things hold up a lot better than a LOT of the current offerings.
October 27, 2013 8:41 pm Gotta give it up to Image for standing by their creators. Liking or disliking a book is purely personal preference, but that store owner went over the line and I'm glad Image dealt with it the way they did.
September 3, 2013 2:20 pm I remember when I came across this site several years ago and thinking "These guys are just like me", I remember having a question answered on-air by you guys and freaking out that I was included in the podcast, I remember having my tastes challenged by being exposed to new things in this industry, some didn't work for me, but the vast majority did, but it was you guys that got me interested in looking beoynd my normal pull list, and eventually expandning it, I remember getting exposed to music that I was unfamiliar with, I remember meetingt yoy guys in San Francisco at WonderCon and all three of you were just friendly guys who dig comics and do a show about it. No pretense or false enthusiasm. Just a genuine passion ofr the art form. I enjoy spending my Sunday afternoons at the gym listening to the POTW podcasts as I train, or a Special Edition or Booksplode as I sit in court waiting for my cases to get called. Thank you for the years of education and entertainment, and wherever the ifanboy banner flies, I'll be there to support it!
August 29, 2013 1:14 pm Whenever I see Spader act he always comes off as a smarmy, smug type just begging for a backhand. He will be perfect for this role.
August 20, 2013 12:50 pm The Thor:The Mighty Avenger series gets a lot of praise on this site, it did nothing for me. But since you own the Simonson Thor Omnibus you NEED to read it! Don't long for why there isn't a digital version, enjoy the omnibus because the material inside and the heft of the book make for a book worthy of a true warrior! :)
August 19, 2013 3:07 pm SuperFriends had been on for a couple of years then, I hated it. Wendy, Marvin and that dog? They weren't in the comic so the y didn't need to be on tv. The local station was still running Batfink, Deputy Dawg, George of the Jungle, Tom Slick and Bullwinkle. Speed Racer and Kimba the White Lion and 8th Man were things I always ran home from school to see as well.
July 15, 2013 3:07 pm BQ: Leave it where it is and put Wonder con back in SF.
July 13, 2013 5:24 pm Had a cameo by Michael Holt but no mention of his alter-ego Mr. Terrific. Disappointing...
July 10, 2013 12:05 am Didn't this just come out a couple weeks ago? Is it bi-monthly now?
