CAPTAIN MARVEL #1
July 19, 2012 11:55 am I really enjoyed this book and am definitely looking forward to what DeConnick does on her run.
I generally found the art OK - it took some getting used too, though. But at times, I found the depictions of Carol Danvers somewhat at odds with the narrative characterization. In the narrative, she's a strong, intelligent, self-actualized woman. In some of the depictions of her, as you note above, her buttocks or her breasts are highlighted and emphasized. That bugged me.

THE INFERNAL MAN-THING #2
July 18, 2012 3:48 pm I was totally lost with issue 1 as a relative noob to comics. All this love for Man-Thing makes me almost feel bad that I won't be picking up issue 2.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #1
July 18, 2012 3:46 pm You know, the worry that villains underestimating Captain Marvel because she's a woman didn't cross my mind as I was reading it, but that would be a damn shame. Particularly because she does already in this series seem to be a self-actualized character - more than a head of hair and a body.
Overall I thought the story was really strong and I'm looking forward to issue #2. The art was jarring at first, but overall, I liked it - it didn't detract from the story and I thought some of the paneling - particularly in the last 4 or 5 pages - was really effective.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #1
July 18, 2012 3:41 pm I'm in the same camp as frosty and cubman. I can't speak to the mischaracterization of Carol Danvers, but Cap didn't seem off to me.
And I liked the interior art, though it through me off at first.

FANTASTIC FOUR #608
July 18, 2012 3:38 pm I just reread issue 570 and Dark Reign: FF last night. It reminded me just how damn good this run has been.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #1
July 18, 2012 3:37 pm cubman987, just finished reading it and really enjoyed it. I felt like it was a good introduction without overdoing it on exposition.
I'm glad I picked it up and I'll definitely be picking up #2.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #1
July 18, 2012 3:36 pm I really enjoyed this, too. And while the art was initially jarring a bit (probably because I read AvX just minutes prior), I loved it, too.

July 18, 2012 3:35 pm Love what you said about Carol being a fully realize character already. I came away thinking the same thing.
Color me impressed.

July 17, 2012 3:58 pm Any thoughts as to how new-reader-friendly this will be? I've been reading AvX and started reading the current volume of Avengers at issue 19. So I have virtually no background knowledge of this character.

SWAMP THING #11
July 16, 2012 4:35 pm My thoughts exactly. I thought the crossover was going to happen way back around issue 8 or so.
At least both books are still consistently very good.
