Perhaps my expectations rose to unfair levels when I saw the first quote on the inside of the cover suggesting…

August 3, 2012 11:06 pm I'm done with both after following for 12 issues. I've also enjoyed Swamp Thing, generally, more than Animal Man for the past 4 or 5 issues, but still, this story line has DRAGGGGGGGGGED on way too long in both titles. DC and Lemire and Snyder have unearned my money.
August 3, 2012 10:59 pm I'm with you. Animal Man and Swamp Thing are coming off my pull list. I actually have liked the new mythology of the Red, the Green and the Rot. My problem for the last 5 or 6 issues - in both series - has been pacing. What has been covered in the first 12 issues of each book really should have been covered in about 6 or 7 or 8 issues. I'm not sure if this is Snyder and Lemire's fault or their editors', but both series had such great starts and have failed to live up to their early issues.
August 2, 2012 10:49 pm Marvel has gotten an amazing amount of mileage out of Nazis. At least Fraction gave us Franken-Hitler.
August 2, 2012 10:48 pm Your last paragraph summed it up perfectly. I feel like I'm being strung along. And I'm done. The past 4 issues - if not more - have just felt like filler. The story has progressed at a glacial pace. And DC has been hyping his crossover for months. And what happens when it finally arrives, not much. I'm done with both of these titles. These issues seem to illustrate precisely the problem with the industry in the past 15 years or so - writing for the trade, creating great arcs (in this case thus far, a rather humdrum one), but mediocre single issues.
August 2, 2012 11:53 am Nice review. Great issue. As someone not well versed in Ant Man, why did he and Matt have such an affinity? What was it Matt said towards the end? "You are not the only one" or something? What exactly did he mean?
August 2, 2012 11:41 am Great review. I too thought this was a particularly strong issue.
July 26, 2012 2:38 pm Exactly how I felt. I'm a huge fan of dystopian, post-apocalyptic stuff, but Debris #1 just didn't hit my sweet spot. It has a lot of promise, I think, but it felt weak on both character and world development. I'll come back for issue 2, but it's going to have to be a big improvement for me to continue on with Debris. I've got one post-apocalyptic sci fi Image title on my pull list that, two issues in, is doing everything right. Too bad Debris has to compete with Planetoid.
July 19, 2012 2:56 pm How about Jonathan Lethem? He did have a (great) novel titled "The Fortress of Solitude," after all.
July 19, 2012 11:58 am How about a Hickman-authored Black Panther mini-series? That could be awesome.
July 19, 2012 11:57 am Yep - the last several pages of art were particularly sloppy, in my estimation. But a fantastic story!
