I bought this largely because I found the cover striking. So score one for Nathan Fox. On a less superficial…

BATMAN #21
June 12, 2013 3:08 pm Genuinely do not know what to make of this. It was alright. Don't know if I'll pick up the next one.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #31
June 11, 2013 1:52 pm I think a problem I'm having with this book is that Aaron is telling the kinds of stories Claremont used to tell... but he's telling them over double the number of issues. It seems like 3-4 issues is roughly the average length of a story on this book. I'm loving all the ongoing subplots, but whenever I don't like the main plot it kind of sucks because you're stuck with it for a while. I liked the Savage Land arc okay but got sick of it after two issues. I didn't like the carnival arc at all and came close to dropping the book. Back in the day, you'd hit a carnival-type story you didn't like and it was okay because you'd be off it the next month. Here, if I don't like the main plot, I damn near end up dropping the book because I'm stuck with it for so long. And I'm paying 3.99 to keep up with some subplots when I don't care about the bulk of the main action.

BATMAN #21
June 10, 2013 11:31 pm I'll check this out. If anyone can revive some very chewed over material, I suppose it would be Snyder.

Missing: Answers to the Name “Krypto the Superdog”
June 9, 2013 2:50 am ...are they serious with that cover on the right? The gaudy, badly written text that almost rhymes... god, it's just so terrible.

UPDATE: Archie and the Gang are Headed for the Big Screen (Probably Without Zombies)
June 6, 2013 12:31 pm I'm shocked there have been so few attempts at Archie movies up 'til now. Of course, the only one I've seen was Return to Riverdale and it was unbelievably mind-blowingly bad.

ASTRO CITY #1
June 5, 2013 3:55 pm This was actually mildly disappointing for me. I'll wait and see where Busiek's taking it, though.

ALL-NEW X-MEN #12
June 5, 2013 3:51 pm This is one of those issues where nothing happened but everything kind of happened, depending on your perspective. If you were looking for a big superhero fight scene like the cover promised, you were out of luck. But that quiet page of Scott and Alex saying goodbye was worth the 3.99 price of admission.

EAST OF WEST #3
June 5, 2013 1:49 pm This issue is where this finally clicked for me and I now kind of love it. Dragotta could draw the phone book (actually, that would be confusing and impressive?) and I would be into it, especially with this colouring job.

X-MEN #1
May 29, 2013 2:22 pm I'm going to keep picking this up if just to stick it to some of the disturbingly sexist commenters on the CNN article about it. The book itself was pretty solid. The female X-Men tend to be the most interesting to me.

May 29, 2013 1:04 pm Goddamnit, I was gonna drop this if this issue wasn't good and then it went and had pick of the week quality.
