It was a decent enough one-shot issue, but…were we supposed to be surprised that they were inside a human body?…

Some excellent comics coming in this week, espicially now that we’re getting more into the story of each one. So…

March 6, 2011 1:17 pm Honestly, it looks like it's going to do a better job at this kind of story than Kick-Ass.

Also--"Shut up, Crime!" is probably one of the best crime-fighter catch-phrases EVER.
February 24, 2011 1:27 pm I'm not going to directly say "DUMP HER," I don't know your relationship...but I will say that this could be a sign. :O

Seriously, I enjoyed the movie--I kinda wish that they replaced the Kryptonian Couple with Neverending, and I kinda felt that the actor for Superman, while trying to go for Zen, sounded more tired and bored of everything that calm and caring, but ultimately, I think of it in the same way as Watchmen: for the format that they were using and the time allowed, they did a pretty good job at adapting this story.
February 21, 2011 4:04 pm How about a Gotham Central game developed by the guys who did Heavy Rain, with Rucka and Brubaker working on the story?
February 17, 2011 12:10 pm @Cronin:

I think that was the whole point of Johnny's message as displayed in the first few pages--don't let their mourning for him stop them from doing what they do best.
February 8, 2011 6:22 pm I think it's fairly obvious that if someone is going to die, it's going to be Jameson Sr.
February 8, 2011 4:01 pm That is a really cool pitch, and I would have loved to have seen almost all of that done. You can also see other places where some of those ideas were used outside of ASS--Superman: Birthright by Waid also had the "sent to Earth by sheer luck" aspect you mentioned.

The only thing I didn't like about the pitch? The idea to split Lois and Clark up. I mean, while the devil isn't involved, which makes this marriage destroyer instantly better, I just don't see the POINT. The love story between Lois and Superman right now is one of the main reasons why I LOVE the character, and honestly, I don't see how having the love triangle up again would make the stories any more better.
February 7, 2011 4:27 pm I'm cautiously interested in this book now. I actually overall liked JMS' initial issues on the book--yes, they were strange, they were sometimes awkward, and definitely easy to parody, but bled with heart and passion and did something interesting with the character of Superman.

But, when Robinson came along with this last issue, it felt...lifeless, like the writer didn't understand what JMS was doing, and actually made it even more awkward and laughable. But, hopefully that was just first-issue jitters, and it gets better with the next issue--Eddy Barrows back on art should definitely help.
February 3, 2011 3:01 pm I think Warren Ellis said it best on his message board:

"Arserape: not a unifying and positive force."
February 2, 2011 3:52 pm Question--did anyone else at first read "hand" as "head?" I was like, "Holy CRAP, they really are playing hardball!"

But yeah, the hook isn't all that hot to me, but I actually loved the magic water hand.
February 2, 2011 3:43 pm Agreed--it's pretty much the only newspaper comic that I've ever loved. Gorgeous stuff.

As for what happens to the pair, while Fight Club is indeed an interesting take, I kind-of like this version better.
