oh man oh man oh man, March 23rd can’t get here soon enough
still kinda looks like an older Miley Cyrus is playing the role of Sue in that cover
First thoughts: Love the Spider-Man splash, but not sure it’s necessary; for all the trouble Peter went through to hide his identity (including from the FF), it sure seems to be the worst-kept secret in the world nowadays (see recent issues of ASM); is that a new building, because otherwise why would Spider-Man be asking where the door is; and when Sue poses like that and says “the entrance is wide open. You want to come inside?”… yes, ma’am!
Oh, and doesn’t the cover give off a late ’70’s – early ’80’s Epic Magazine feel? I like it, especially if it sets a darker, wierder tone for this series.
@BC1 you are spot on on that Epic reference
In the middle of grieving for Johnny they had time to whip up new costumes? Come on
@Cronin Well they are unstable molecules, i’m pretty sure reed just tells the computer what they look like and it does all the work. plus we don’t know how long it’s been since johnny’s funeral. it might be like two months since they buried him
So awesome! I was unsure about this change but this has me psyched.
@Cronin:
I think that was the whole point of Johnny’s message as displayed in the first few pages–don’t let their mourning for him stop them from doing what they do best.
Epting draws the shit out of Spider-Man. I might start picking this up purely for that reason.
I get it, but I can’t picture the group conversation. “Now that Johnny’s dead we need a new symbol on our costume and building.” The design does look very cool though, and I’m being buzz kill. Love the series, and I’m pumped for this issue.
Is it me or is Sue Storm flirting with Peter?
Don’t answer. It’s me.
Makes sense creatively to usher in a new logo- design
But from an actual character point that kind of thing this quickly is cold
and unnaturally fast.
Suspension of disbelief suffers because of this.
@ericmci we still have a whole issue of fantastic four before this issue comes out, and who knows how much time has passed betwen johnnys death and this issue.
@ericmci – the Future Foundation itself is not a new idea, so Reed could very well have had this done some time ago. Johnny’s death may just be the impetus to unveil it. Likewise, one of the other Future Foundation kids could have been working on this. FF #588 and/or ASM #657/658 will have answers and help transition into this new idea.
Wow. This looks great!
I like the idea that it was Johnny’s idea for Peter to replace him, just in case.
But I’m feeling what @AmirCat’s feeling… “Young Man?” WAY too MILFy for Susan…
So is the original FF series finished; or is this another series to run with it?
@dkpwv This replaces the original FF series.
This is kinda wild….Yet another outfit for Spidey?? Go figure…
@PaulMontgomery: Thanks.
I really don’t like the costumes, Hickman hubris.
Once again this seems to prove my theory that the family is immediately ready to change every aspect of the team if one goes down. They’re already in their new costumes and changing their logos with Johnny barely out of the picture.
What is here though is really good. I’m excited to see Parker as a member of the team and Epting is doing a great job with the art as always.
its funny when you think about it, Peter gets to nerd out with Tony in the ultimate universe and Nerdout with Reed in the main universe
very excited for this!
see how dark the panels look without fire?
so wait, Spider-man is in the fantastic four? or they;re finished and spider-man is a member of a new team thats essentially the fantastic four with him instead of the torch?
@kidCharlemagne Not the Fantastic Four, the Future Foundation.
While Spidey makes good sense as the replacement for Johnny, it wouldn’t surprise me to see FF (and Marvel) leave the 4th roster slot open for new heroes to come in and out as needed.
Here’s hoping Hickman gets to exhaust the potential of this line-up before the inevitable return of Johnny Storm storyline.
Anybody else notice the streak of fire shooting from the top of the building behind Spidey’s leg?!
