April 18, 2012 8:24 pm I think the reason it looks better so far is that it only really showed the Batmobile and the environment, and those things look fine in CGI. It's the people that look craptastic in that style, and we barely got a glimpse. Why can't they make the people less plastic and shiny and smooth? It's just creepy and unsettling to look at.
April 17, 2012 5:36 pm I love Chris Giarrusso so much. I'll repurchase MG#1 for that cover!
March 29, 2012 6:22 pm I actually find the GL cartoon completely unwatchable, because of the plastic look of the characters. Sad to think of the CGI style taking over more and more.
February 23, 2012 2:25 pm To all the dudes out there who "have to quit" doing something you love because some girl demands it... Wow, raise your own standards. Why do men put up with that crap? Unless you are so integrated into each other's lives that you share living expenses, what you do with your money is none of her business. And even at that point, unless you are actively failing at your fair share, what you do with the money beyond your fair share is none of her business! And if it's not about money but instead about "time you could be spending with her" or "those friends she doesn't like," then seriously dude, find a girl with interests and friends of her own so she doesn't expect a boyfriend to become her entire world and entertain and fulfill her all the time. A girl with enough self-esteem that your outside interests aren't a constant source of stress that you'll find someone else and leave her. We do exist. We're out there. So that was a rant...sorry.
February 13, 2012 5:27 pm I would choose Cillian Murphy for Cassidy. He's the perfect combination of handsome, likable and charming as well as creepy, off-putting, and intense. He could do wonderful things with such a layered and complex character.
February 6, 2012 2:47 pm I was a bit let down by the ending, and there were a couple of plot holes, and I found the Casey character 100% unnecessary (and in fact, barely a character at all, just a cipher, an excuse to add another camera to the mix). But overall, I loved this movie. I was grinning ear-to-ear for at least an hour straight while watching it. It was intense, exciting, thoughtful, and well-made. I could hardly ask for more.
February 3, 2012 4:20 pm I am in the anti-Land camp, and the basics have already been covered by other comments (the inconsistency of a character's appearance from one page to the next because he photo-referenced different faces is a big one), but for me, the final straw was when there was a page with a woman being tortured, and because of the photo-referencing he favors, she *still* looked like she was getting off. Bad enough that his women when performing high kicks look like they're just having their legs propped up for a kama sutra maneuver, and that when they're shouting they mostly look like they're sucking on something...but when they should be in agony but instead seem to be feeling pleasure, that's just creepy fetishistic garbage. And it takes a LOT to offend me, for real.
February 1, 2012 1:25 pm I gave my new boyfriend three books for xmas, Barry Ween, Forgetless, and the first hardcover of Ex Machina, which I think is a slam dunk for getting him hooked.
January 9, 2012 3:04 pm There's a Kahlil Gibran poem I read a long time ago that had this wonderful line: Yet what I loved as a child I love now, and what I love now I will love to the end of my days, For love is all I have, and none shall take it from me.
January 9, 2012 12:18 pm This casting is so perfect, I will be watching this movie in my head all day. I'd watch just about anything if I found out both Lennie James and Dichen Lachman were in it!
