It was practically a foregone conclusion that the first book in months by my favorite writer (Judd Winick) would be my POTW.  Even in a week where almost half my books were the series finales of books I have loved, including Initiative, which has been my Pick nearly every issue it’s had.  But there’s just something about Winick that reaches me on the deepest level and makes every character feel real and alive.  I’m fairly late to the DCU, so I don’t know any of these characters really, but after one issue, I am already invested in Booster Gold and his mission and intrigued by the “painting” of Maxwell Lord.

I cannot wait to see where this story goes, and I’m beyond excited to have a new biweekly series from my #1 comic creator.  The art was gorgeous too and had great movement and flow to the action as well as terrific acting from the characters.

If I had one nit to pick, it would be the number of typos…I get that in a biweekly series that sort of thing is likely to happen eventually due to rushing to print, but the first issue deserves the extra polish.

All in all, the thing I was most jazzed for this week was not one of the many endings but a beginning.

Story: 5 - Excellent
