Before I even opened the comic, Justice League: Generation Lost had a few marks against it. I’ve never particularly cared for Judd Winick, Keith Giffen’s recent work has been hit or miss, and there’s a history in comics of it not working out well when creators return to characters they’ve used before. (Not to mention JL:GL’s tenuous tie to the abysmal Brightest Day.)
Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Instead of trying to recapture the magic of the old JLI days, Giffen and Winick instead use the characters in a fun (yet more serious) way while embracing the history of the characters past JLI.
I won’t the ending, but the status quo it establishes for the rest of the series has a lot of promise.

The ending is a lot like Spider-Man One More Day …
