October 31, 2016 5:42 pm I think I remember Detective Comics 27 giant size basically being the 75th for Batman issue and I think Superman Unchained may have been what they did for Supes.
May 23, 2016 1:59 am The show made me shed tears towards the end, i loved Darwyn's work. Gene Ha's Mae was probably my pick of the week it was pretty great. I am looking forward to rebirth, it sounds like it may be what we have been waiting for. Thanks for the show this week.
May 16, 2016 10:10 am I found Civil War to be great and I noticed some problems but I try not to pick things apart anymore. I enjoyed parts of BvS but there was big problems, overall I don't regret seeing it. However I found Ron's reaction to it hard to listen to, it didn't deserve that kind of unmitigated rage, to each their own though. Is anyone else reading House of Penance by Ian Bertram and Peter Tomasi, it is pretty trippy stuff that is awesome to look at. Conor I agree on Elsa, she is great. It looks like next she might be doing some Harley and a bombshells annual next. Last year I got a full color Kitty Pryde commission from her figuring I'd never get anything by Darwyn, was very happy with it. Sorry about Darwyn, I never got to meet him but consider him one of the all time greats.
April 3, 2016 5:22 pm I'm looking forward to most of the bat and supes lines, the justice league and titans stuff not so much. Wonder Woman looks great and I have high hopes for flash as I like Williamson. Marvel is teasing death of X for the fall which i'm pretty sure is just going to be them finally revealing the death of old cyclops. I'm pretty sure Alfred will see his hand restored soon with the return of Bruce.
December 2, 2015 9:34 am I would suggest trying to be patient with the headsketch, some of these artists are very busy. Some artists also don't generally do at home commissions because they have motivation issues but harassing them may motivate them to do something, it may not be something that would be as good as if you were patient with them. I just had a Psylocke commission take 4 months and I have had a few other pieces of work take longer but I have never not received my work eventually. But yea it is an awkward situation for sure, good luck. Most artists at this point want payment prior to starting the work. Mahmud Asrar was the only artist I paid at the show this year. I would add Gillen Kid Loki JiM, Soule She-Hulk and JH/Blackman Batwoman as trades to have on the shelf. Silk has been a good book from the start but it suffers a bit when Stacey Lee isn't on art duties.
November 1, 2015 7:52 pm I bought the awkward man hug page of Chew from issue 37 at NYCC 2013. I had to confirm that Rob still works physically, he does, and sells his art here: http://robguillory.com/ . No issue 51 art yet though. I have purchased Wes Craig art through Cadence and they have been great. Black Magick was my potw loved the art and the story got me interested.
October 11, 2015 10:48 pm I agree on ASM as well. Jughead I took for what it was and found it enjoyable enough.
October 5, 2015 9:59 pm I enjoyed Archie, They're not like us, and rick and morty which was a special ball fondlers issue by Andrew Mclean. I moved to the nice hardcovers on American Vampire personally. Pretty sure there is no keeping super hero fans happy for marvel and dc. Death of the family no deaths or anything, people are mad, endgame alfred loses a hand, people are also mad. I want stuff to happen but only exactly how I want it to happen, good lord.
August 18, 2015 7:50 am The problem with mini series is they are perfect for trade waiting. Mark Millar is now on my trade wait list because everything he does is attempting to be a movie and is actually a mini series without telling me. Most the time the fact is no longer on the cover, maybe inside the cover, sometimes in the solicits sometimes not. If something is a mini but not in solicits, I would think this is an attempt to get stores to order more of the book than perhaps they should. I still think Marvel is abusing the number one and everything they do is a miniseries. Interesting industry stuff to me but it isn't all bad. I am still enjoying the books. The DC relaunch has been great in my opinion, I even think constantine is good #ismyjohn. Secret Wars has been fun, but I'm more waiting for after at this point.
August 10, 2015 4:06 pm Think Low was just colored by the artist originally and they brought in a colorist to lessen his workload. Personally I thought the colors were fine. This Deadly Class issue felt fine as well. I do fully agree that losing Dean White on Black Science was a fairly large step back in the colors department. Not sure why Lee and Dean left the books though, marvel and dc may just pay better and those are both pretty in demand guys atm.
