Finally! Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang bring us the Wonder Woman I’ve been waiting for. As promised, Azzarello delivers both an intriguing and, at times, a horrifying story. This issue delivers the very best first issue of the entire relaunch thus far. More than any other number one, it hits the ground with an astounding amount of momentum while still indoctrinating new Wonder Woman readers, like myself, smoothly and effectively. Chiang’s artwork encapsulates a gritty and dynamic tone similar to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre at times. His line work is incredibly kinetic, almost leaping off the page, especially on page 15 in which Diana deflects a centaur’s arrow. This book is quite simply perfect. If you didn’t pick it up, then pray to the god’s your local retailer still has it.
