I get my books on Fridays, and after hearing all the reviews I was expecting JL #1 to be a lot less than it was. The biggest problem I’ve heard is that not enough happened — but I don’t think that’s true. While this issue was more of a “scene” than it was an “episode”, I found it fast-paced and action-packed, anyway. They had a lot to establish, and Johns did it well with a good balance between characterization and humor that made everyone likable, even though GL was a douche.

For the next issues? I’m most nervous for how they handle Superman, as I’m very attached to his and Batman’s friendship, and I think it’s something natural and necessary between the characters.

Over all, this issue brought it for me. I’m excited for the next. It wasn’t out of this world, but I really did dig it.
