“It’s nice to finally be suprised by characters I thought I knew like the back of my hand.” That’s what I thought when I closed this book. These are not the same personalities I’m used to.
Batman isn’t the stoic, holier-than-thou, man in the shadows. He isn’t drawn standing tall on ledges and stairs towering over the other Leaguers, rather he is croutched in most panels.
Green Lantern at this point is doomed. He is untested and in need of humbling. Not so long ago some little blue guys gave him the most powerful weapon in the universe and put him in charge of our entire sector. Without the help of his peers he would never survive.
And Superman? He’s only on one page but ask yourself. When does anyone ever go looking for Superman? As I read issue #1, I kept wondering when Clark was going to swoop in to save them.
Was it the book ever? No. But do I eagerly anticipate issue two? Yes. And That’s something I haven’t said about a DC title in a while.

Story: 4 - Very Good
