So this was not what I expected, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Overall I thought it had some really good ‘character’ moments and makes for a good entrance point into this new world.

What was missing, in my opinion, was the sense of epic adventure that I typically associate with the Justice League, and what Grant Morrison did so well during his run. I think those that have pointed out that this reads more like an issue of “Brave and the Bold” are correct. It was sort of reminiscent of Bendis on the Avengers, as he typically goes in more for character development than big set pieces.

Still it was gorgeous and a fun read – I would definitely recommend it, particularly to someone who was new to comics. That is definitely the target audience.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
